Spencer— Back-to-School Block Party Coming to Spencer July 24
Free Community Event Helps Local Families Prepare for the School Year
Community Health Center of Spencer, in partnership with Spencer Community Schools, is excited to host a Back-to-School Block Party on Thursday, July 24, in the parking lot at Community Health Center of Spencer, located at 223 W 7th Street. This free event aims to support families in preparing for the upcoming school year by offering medical and dental services, school registration assistance, school supplies, and fun activities for children.
The Health Center will provide well-child exams, immunizations, sports physicals, and dental exams for students who need them before the start of school. Healthcare services will be offered inside the clinic, with appointments available from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Walk-in care will be available during the block party from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. These services are open to all children regardless of insurance status. If a child has insurance, services will be billed accordingly. To schedule an appointment, families should call 712-232-4300. To save time during check-in, families are encouraged to complete their registration paperwork online in advance by visiting the homepage at chcfd.com.
Outside, Spencer Community Schools will assist families with school registration and will distribute backpacks and school supplies to students in attendance. Each family will also receive a box of food, while supplies last. The parking lot will feature booths from local organizations, offering activities, giveaways, haircuts, and community resources for families. From 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, a free meal—hotdog, chips, cookie, and water—will be served, made possible thanks to the support of local sponsors including Hy-Vee, Fareway, and the Clay County Cattlemen.
The Back-to-School Block Party is a one-stop shop for families to access healthcare, school support, and community fun—all in one afternoon. Community Health Center of Spencer invites everyone to come take part in this family-focused event and get ready for a healthy and successful school year.
