Spencer, IA –Community Health Center of Spencer, in partnership with Spencer Main Street, invites the public to participate in the Make It OK Walk on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 12:00 PM. This event is part of the Make It OK campaign through Iowa’s Healthiest State Initiative, a statewide effort focused on reducing stigma surrounding mental health by encouraging open conversations and increasing understanding of mental illness.
The walk will begin at Northwest Bank at 12:00 PM and will follow a loop through downtown Spencer, concluding at Community Health Center. Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend and show their support for mental health awareness. Participants are encouraged to wear green, the official color for mental health, to show support, and help spark conversations throughout the community.
The Make It OK campaign works to break down barriers surrounding mental health by reminding Iowans that it’s okay to talk about mental health and to seek help. Events like the Make It OK Walk provide an opportunity for individuals, families, and organizations to come together in support of mental well-being.
“This event is about creating a safe space for conversation and reminding our community that mental health matters,” said Dawn Dahm, Office Manager. “By walking together and wearing green, we help send a strong message that it’s okay to talk about mental health.”
