Eileen Meier
Eileen Meier is a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner and an attorney. She has a certificate in traumatic stress studies from the Trauma Center in Massachusetts. She also was a prior sexual assault forensic nurse examiner for adults and children. Eileen graduated from the University of Iowa with a BSN; Johns Hopkins University with a Master in Public Health; University of Maryland with a Master in Science; and American University with a Doctorate of Jurisprudence. She has teaching experience in health care policy and international human rights, and was a former federal lobbyist in Washington, D.C for national health care groups. Eileen has worked in the U.S. and abroad on domestic violence issues in Bosnia, Nepal and Iraq, with children in the former Yugoslavia after the Balkan wars, and in various post-conflict countries. Eileen has experience treating patients age 6-90 with schizophrenia, depression, bipolar, anxiety, ADHD, substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, children in foster care and individuals with prior sexual and domestic abuse. She is particularly interested in post-traumatic stress disorder in adolescents and adults and foster children. She hopes to develop a program in the local area for equine-facilitated psychotherapy for veterans and adolescents, and owns seven horses.
